Cars and Coffee™ Irvine houses a plethora of unique and remarkable automobiles every Saturday morning. These cars are not usually seen on public roads and are mostly brought out for special occasions. You might even be lucky enough to catch one or two soar past you on the freeway! This week, we had the opportunity to photograph a friend’s 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 V-SPEC. Seeing Andy pull up in his Skyline brought an unmistakable grin to our faces and also drew quite the crowd!
After checking out some of the cars and chatting with a few people at Cars and Coffee™ Irvine, we decided to head out to our arranged location. We couldn’t help but grab some rolling shots along the way. Can you blame us? Look how beautiful and majestic this R33 looks rolling through the streets!
The more I spoke with Andy about his car, the more apparent it became to me how simple and elegant his car has been kept. You don’t usually see a whole lot of Nissan Skylines in the United States. The majority of us get our Skyline fix by watching online videos and the like. Most of these cars are highly modified or are all-out race cars. It was refreshing to see a car with a more “down to earth” theme in mind. Don’t get me wrong; the car has been treated with a dose of Nismo parts but, it holds a subtler persona in the meantime. A Nismo front lip compliments the Nismo carbon fiber wing, which helps accentuate those gorgeous body lines that you just can’t find on cars these days.
The interior is also kept simple with a Nismo shift knob and Momo steering wheel to boot. One look at the inside of this car and it becomes very apparent that this is a driver’s car. From the bolstering on the seats, to the minimal clutter in the center console and dashboard, this car means business.
Andy’s R33 sports a set of Nismo 400R coilovers which help keep the car stable through the corners during those spirited runs that we, as car enthusiasts, are pretty much born for! To compliment the lowered ride height, Andy sourced a set of gorgeous and period correct Nismo LMGT1 wheels in a 18×10” setup all around. The Nismo LMGT1s add a very nice touch to the exterior of this car.
Another reason why these cars are so popular is because of the powerplant they come with. The RB26DETT – which respectively translates to “Race bred 2.6 liter motor with dual overhead cams and electronically concentrated engine control system with twin turbos”. These engines hold a reputation for making big horsepower numbers and having excellent response. Andy kept his RB26 simple with only a HKS exhaust and upgraded oil cooler to help keep things copasetic.
It was a blast chatting with Andy and photographing his beautiful R33 Skyline. I would like to thank him for his time and for allowing us the opportunity to photograph his car. Enjoy the rest of these beautiful photos until next time!
